Exploring Ecosystems
Learning
Objectives
By the end of this unit, you will have developed
the skills to identify various types of ecosystems through engaging in
interactive activities. You will also be able to describe the characteristics
and components of different ecosystems using acquired knowledge and
observations. This will enable you to analyze and discuss the
interrelationships among organisms and their environment, gaining a deeper
understanding of the intricate web of life within ecosystems.
What is an
Ecosystem?
Animals, plants, and people rely on each other
to live and survive. They also depend on the place where they live an
ecosystem. An ecosystem is made up
of living things, like plants and animals, as well as the environment they live
in. It's like a big community where everyone and everything has a role to play.
In an ecosystem, plants provide food and oxygen, animals help with pollination
and seed dispersal, and people can care for the environment to keep it healthy.
All of us need to understand how ecosystems work so we can take care of them
and ensure they stay balanced and thriving.
Below is some key content on the interactive:
ü An ecosystem includes
the living and nonliving things in an environment.
ü Animals and plants that
live in an ecosystem are uniquely suited to live in that ecosystem.
ü Earth’s land ecosystems
include desert, tundra, forest, rainforest, and grassland.
ü Water ecosystems
include rivers, streams, ponds, lakes, marshes, estuaries, and oceans.
Exploring
Ecosystems
In this unit, we will be exploring both land
and water ecosystems. To complete the questions and activities, read all the
